This blog is the third of a four-part series that identifies how BoldtSmith Packaging can reduce your product damage and packaging costs thru selecting the right foam!
Part #3) Foam Density
Part #4) Foam Design
After determining the supply chain the products will be shipping thru, the foam type, we can select the foam density.
The density of foam is the weight in pounds of one cubic foot of material. As a general rule, the higher the density of foam, the stiffer the foam.
The correct density of foam is determined in three steps
Often the product fragility level is determined with product prototypes which may not be 100% accurate of the true strength of the product. However, this information will give a general idea on where the foam density needs to be.
